Dr. Saffold earned his degree at the University of California, Berkeley. He went on to medical school at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. He completed his surgery internship at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is board-certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology. Dr. Saffold spent two years as a Research Fellow at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation. His work focused on new ways to treat head and neck cancer. He then completed his ENT training at Oregon Health Sciences University. He trained under national experts in ear care, sinus surgery, head and neck surgery, facial plastic surgery, and pediatric ENT. He also works with the Virginia Sinus Center a resource for patients who need advanced sinus care.
